Silesia is a large metropolitan region in southern Poland. It includes many connected cities with a long industrial history. Katowice is the capital and the largest city of the region. For many years, the region was known for coal mining and steel production. Today, Silesia combines its industrial heritage with modern manufacturing, engineering, and cultural attractions.
